Pretending To Be Normal
Book by Liane Holliday Willey.
Personal Perspective
The title of the book is too apt and too good for me not to copiously borrow. When I use the phrase 'Pretending To Be Normal', I refer not to the contents of her book—I have to find it and read it at some point—but to the thoughts evoked by simply considering what a book with a title like this could be about. Frankly, until I've got all that thinking written down, I won't actually read the book since books, once read, can't be un-read. I can write my thoughts, then read the book, then revisit my thoughts and see what's changed. So I'll apologise in advance for the lack of my having read her book, save for the first few pages. And I'll apologise for 'stealing' the title without her permission for my own purposes. I hope she doesn't mind.
