You can pray without saying; you can say without praying. Prayer is all about what is going on in your head and your heart, not what is going on in your vocal cords, nor what effect your words have on others.

In communal prayer, we vocalise our prayers so that others can then pray the same things, so that we pray the same things as a group.

As Jesus teaches, do not pray in order to be seen by others.
